If someone was making your life miserable and you were offered the opportunity to make them disappear, would you?
Sarah stops a young girl from being kidnapped. The girl’s father makes this offer to Sarah so that he will no longer be indebted to her. There’s one catch, Sarah has 72 hours to make her decision and once she makes her choice, she can’t change it.
This book was filled with lots of twists and turns and was a great read!
July was a good reading month for me. I read 3 books during the month and 2 of those books received 5 star ratings from me!
In total I read 998 pages and my average rating was 4.67 stars.
Full reviews of all three books are in prior posts on my blog but recaps of the books are below:
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid Genre: Historical Fiction Rating: 5/5 StarsThe Summer We Lost Her by Tish Cohen Genre: Mystery Rating: 4/5 StarsThings You Save In A Fire by Katherine Center Genre: Romance Rating: 5/5 Stars
I can’t believe that we are now in the last month of the summer. Yikes!! I hope everyone has a great reading month!
Things You Save In A Fire by Katherine Center Genre: Romance
This year I’m reading a lot of books by authors who are new to me. I’ve never read a book by Katherine Center before, so Things You Save In A Fire fits into that list. It’s a romance, which I typically don’t gravitate towards, but to me, this book was so much more than just a romance.
We follow Cassie Hanwell, a female firefighter/paramedic in Texas. She relocates to Massachusetts to assist her estranged mother who is ill. She fits in great with her fellow firefighters in Texas, but quickly learns that the station she ends up going to in Massachusetts isn’t so keen on embracing her.
Cassie has to learn if she can mend ways with her mom and prove herself as being capable of doing her job with the crew at the new station. On top of that, she is falling for the new rookie. There’s just one problem. Her old Captain gave her the following advice . . . Never Date Firefighters.
I absolutely loved this book! It’s fast paced and kept me engaged from start to finish. HIGHLY recommend!!
The Summer We Lost Her by Tish Cohen Genre: Mystery
This was a great suspenseful story about a parent’s worst nightmare.
Matt and Elise Sorenson are at their family camp in Lake Placid with their daughter, Gracie, when she is abducted. Their marriage is already on shaky ground and now they struggle with what their future may hold if Gracie isn’t found safe. In addition to Gracie being gone, Matt discovers a family secret that shakes him to his core. It had me routing for this family right up to the end!
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid Genre: Historical Fiction
This was the first book I’ve read by Taylor Jenkins Reid and it will not be my last. If you haven’t read this book yet, do it NOW! I loved this book.
The book is about a rock band from the 70’s and it reads as an interview. I felt as if I were present watching the interview take place. All of the characters were relatable and there is a revelation towards the end of the book that truly surprised me. Fantastic summer read!
Finally! I read more than 2 books in June. It was my standard 3 books, but I’ll take it! It’s also almost the end of July so I’m super late in posting my June wrap-up. 🙂
In Total I read 1,089 pages and my average rating was 4.33 stars.
Full reviews of all three books are in prior posts on my blog but short recaps of the books are below:
Tell Me Everything by Cambria Brockman Genre: Thriller Rating: 5/5 StarsHoney Talk by Declan Davey Genre: Thriller Rating: 3/5 StarsSummer of ’69 by Elin Hilderbrand Genre: Historical Fiction Rating: 5/5 Stars
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and getting lots of outdoor reading in!
I received a free e-copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way changes or affects my review.
Lily, the main character, is struggling with mental illness. The book started out slow for me, but it became more interesting the more I read and I couldn’t put it down. I enjoy a book with short chapters as it keeps me turning the pages and I thought the most interesting part of the story were the therapy scenes.
Summer of ’69 by Elin Hildebrand Genre: Historical Fiction
What a great book to start the summer with!
This is the story of the Levin family and the summer they spent on Nantucket during 1969. Blair, the oldest sister, is pregnant with twins. Kirby, the middle sister, is very much caught up in the civil rights movement. Tiger, the only son, has been drafted and was recently deployed to Vietnam. Jessie, the youngest daughter, just turned 13 and is trying to find her way.
Kate, their mother, has been keeping a secret for years that she is afraid will come out. Finally, there is Exalta, Kate’s Mom, who is the Matriarch of the family and seems to be out of touch with the times.
I loved this book! This was the first book I’ve read by Elin Hildebrand and I know it won’t be my last! I felt as if I was truly transported back in time. I laughed and, yes, I cried too.
HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone who enjoys historical fiction.
Tell Me Everything by Cambria Brockman Genre: Mystery / Thriller
I want to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book which comes out on July 16.
This book follows a group of friends at an elite college in New England. Malin, the main character has a family secret and she’s learned to be very good at hiding it from everyone and making them think she is concerned with those around her. We also find out that Malin is not the only one in her group of friends keeping secrets.
On Senior Day, the secrets of Malin and those of her friends are revealed and a chain of events take place that end in a murder.
I loved this book! It had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I’m not a fast reader, but I finished it in 6 days which is very fast for me! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the Mystery/Thriller genre.
I was able to finish 2 books during the month of May. Both books were from authors that were new to me and one of the books was another ARC that I received through NetGalley!
In Total I read 837 pages and my average rating was 4.25 stars.
Full reviews of both books are in prior posts on my blog but short recaps of the books are below:
